  • Buckfastleigh Recycling Centre to close…

Posted on February 23rd, 2011 andy 1 comment

Devon County Council have decided to close the recycling centre at Bulley Cleaves.
It will close on Sunday March 27th.

Buck the Trend would like to send our condolences to all those who have lost their jobs and say thank-you for the work they have put in over the last years.

We are working with local councillors and others to try and find an alternative which will stop recyclable material ending up in black-bins or being fly-tipped.

One response to “Buckfastleigh Recycling Centre to close…”

    1. from the People’s Republic of South Devon:

Dawlish Councillor Derek Collins there has been an increase in furniture being dumped in Dawlish – even a mattress dumped in the middle of the Strand
Dawlish councillor Derek Collins wants to see if the recently closed Devon County Council recycling centre could become a community-run facility under the Localism Act. As a community-run facility it might be possible to get charity funding.

There had been an increase in old furniture being dumped at the side of a road. There had even been a mattress dumped right in the middle of the Strand – Dawlish’s shopping centre

Derek told the PRSD: “We need our centre.

“I’ve reported the fly tipping to Teignbridge’s Blitz Team.

“There is never any excuse for fly tipping, the indiscriminate dumping of rubbish is anti-social; nevertheless the decision to close the Recycling Centre is in my opinion leading to more fly tipping.”
