With a quarter of the UK’s generating capacity shutting down over the next ten years (as old coal and nuclear power stations close) and electricity demand set to double by 2050 (as more transport and heating shifts to electricity), major changes are needed to power generation in the UK. When you factor in the limitations imposed by dealing with climate change and the problems that we face get even more complicated. So what are the options?

The government has just announced how it plans to deal with the situation. Their solution includes domestic nuclear power plants and offshore windfarms amongst other things. But do you agree with their plans? Do you think that you can come up with a better plan? Well, now is your chance to do just that. The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) have made it possible for you to do just that.

Just go to our overview of how to plan the country’s energy future.
