The BTT logo was designed by Ben Perkins – the winner of a competition held at Buckfastleigh Primary School. It contains images of a wind turbine, bike, trees and a lightbulb.

Buck the Trend is a Transition initiative (or Transition Town) – you can find out more about them here.

We want to develop a framework for local people so we can grow and build our community towards a brighter, more hopeful future for ourselves and our children.

For our long-term well-being, we want to reduce our dependence on increasingly scarce and expensive fossil fuels (such as oil) and our damaging impact on the climate and the natural environment and develop our local resources, both social and environmental.

This means building a more resilient, social and sustainable community – and doing it in a way that is affordable for all.

We want to make Buckfastleigh a more sustainable place to live, and to become a stronger community as a result.

All are welcome, and we need many hands on board to create a vision of what a more sustainable Buckfastleigh will look like  – and to start the transition towards the future that we want for ourselves,  our children and our town.

Buck the Trend holds regular open forums and events. Get in touch or look at the latest e-bulletin here to find out details of the next event. If you want to be on our mailing list, or want to share some information or have a query, fill in the contact form here.
