Welcome to Buck the Trend’s Latest E-Bulletin (June 2014)
    (1) Save Buckfastleigh Library – Public Meeting
    (2) Buckfastleigh Neighbourhood Plan –  ‘Cafe-style’ Public Meeting Part 2

    (1) Save Buckfastleigh Library – Public meeting – Thursday 19th June – 7.15
As you may know Devon County Council want to cut a further £1.5 million off library budgets – they propose a 50% cut for 28 smaller libraries (over half the total number) including Buckfastleigh and Ashburton. The council propose that to accomplish this, the community take the running of the library into our own hands for free. Along with the cuts to the Youth service, childcare services and other services in the area, we at  Buck the Trend think this is the blunt end of ‘Big Society’ and are worried that this will effectively result in the loss of the library as a resource for the town.

Friends of Buckfastleigh Library have called a Public Meeting on Thursday 19th June at 7.15pm at the town hall where you can address your concerns to DCC Councillor Roger Croad and Ciara Eastell, Head of Libraries.

    (2) Buckfastleigh Neighbourhood Plan –  ‘Cafe-style’ Public Meeting – Part 2 – 24th July
The second ‘cafe-style’ meeting for residents to contribute to drawing up a plan for the future of Buckastleigh will be held on Thursday 24th July from 7.15pm at the Town Hall. At this one we will be looking at issues related to the environment as well as housing and infrastructure, so please come along and contribute your thinking and ideas…
