    1. BTT AGM Report

Buck the Trend held our (belated) AGM on Fri 4th Sept at Belinda and Neil’s land at Waycott’s Orchard, where 12 of us enjoyed food around the campfire. Erin, Andy and Anne were re-elected as officers (in the absence of any other volunteers), and we shared information about Devonia & the Neighbourhood plan, the cycle strategy group, the community compost project, Town Council’s community engagement initiative and Belinda’s work with her new project ‘Food Forever’ which includes the Food Bank community garden behind St. Luke’s church. The minutes are available on the website www.buckthetrend.info

    2. BTT Green Drinks – Tue 22nd Sept, 7.30pm @ King’s Arms

Now that the weather is cooling down and the days are shortening, it seems a good time to restart our ‘Green Drinks’ informal meetings at the King’s Arms. Previously we have met to share a drink and good company, while keeping up-to-date with what projects are going on in the community and beyond. All welcome.

    3. Community Composting Project – Meeting, Mon 21st Sept, 7.15pm @ Town Hall

BTT & the Town Council are looking at setting up a community composting scheme in the town. If you are interested in getting involved, come along. We will be exploring practical details of the project with the help of Nicky Scott (of Chagford’s ‘Proper Job’).

    4. South Dartmoor Cycling Strategy Group - Thurs 8th Oct, 7pm @ Town Hall

The second meeting of the council-initiated group will be looking at how to make the town (‘Bike-Fastleigh’) and surrounding area more cycle-friendly. We are looking at cycle paths/routes, cycle and e-bike share and hire schemes and more. If you have an interest and would like to be involved, please contact andystokes@buckfastleigh.gov.uk

    5. Edible Open Gardens Day - 21st Sept @ Waycott’s Orchard, Merrifield Rd

Join in with digging, tea drinking or just enjoying a piece of cake in the outdoors on Belinda & Neil Martin’s land just past the far end of Jordan St.

    6. The Seed – 2nd Anniversary – Wed 16th Sept @ The Seed

Happy birthday from BTT to the Seed. The Seed has not only survived but flourished – sometimes against the odds and is a credit to the vision and hard work of Sefton and Liz and all the volunteers who have put their time, energy & money into this project. We wish you many more years. The Seed welcomes people to drop by on it’s birthday for ‘various treats’!

    7. Seed Talks @ Jellyfish Planning meeting – Thur Sept 17th, 7.30pm @ Jellyfish

Seed talks will be resuming on Thursday October 1st 7.30pm – What talks would you like? Please help us to plan the topics etc. You are invited to bring your ideas, questions and interests so that we can establish the main themes before we arrange speakers for the course of the year.
